Description
Single Origin India Ratnagiri Speciality Coffee comes from Ratnagiri Estate in the Bababudangiri region of India’s Western Ghats. Ratnagiri means ‘Pearl Mountain’, a name inspired by the estate’s dense silver oak canopy.
The estate was established in 1920 and has passed through generations of the Patre family. Today, Ashok Patre runs the farm, combining traditional growing methods with carefully controlled fermentation techniques.
The Hemavathi Arabica coffee grows at 1,350 metres above sea level in the Silvermora Patte block. Layers of natural shade provide an ideal environment for the coffee plants. The biodynamic farm also maintains Rainforest Alliance certification.
After harvesting, the ripe cherries are carefully sorted before being placed in sealed fermentation tanks with selected yeast cultures. Carbon dioxide removes the oxygen, allowing the coffee to undergo a controlled 96-hour carbonic maceration. The cherries are then dried slowly on raised beds for 31 days, with regular turning to help them dry evenly and develop their distinctive flavour.
This process gives Single Origin India Ratnagiri Speciality Coffee its vibrant fruit character. Expect notes of Mango, Orange Candy & Marzipan.
For brewing at home, we recommend Espresso, Moka Pot, AeroPress or French Press to bring out its vibrant fruit and sweet finish.
